E-safety Support Continues to Grow

E-safety Support launched in February 2013, shortly after Ofsted released the new requirements for e-safety in schools. Since launch we have added over 100 resources, sent over 250 e-safety news bulletins and been joined by almost 15,000 members.

The most significant development since we launched has been the addition of nine online training courses. These have been tailor made to reach the whole school community, and have been created specifically for staff, governors, parents and pupils. We are delighted to report that we have seen almost 90,000 courses completed - a number which is growing rapidly on a daily basis.

The Internet and Young People

Since 2013, e-safety has become an integral part of the Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance to schools and an essential safeguarding issue for all those concerned with education.

It’s no secret that the Internet and social media use is now embedded as part of normal life for young people and with that comes some fantastic opportunities. It is also no secret that online communication also brings potential risks such as CSE and radicalisation, along with bullying, grooming, sexting – the list continues to grow. But we must remember that with the right education and skills, young people (and indeed their teachers) can minimize the risks and navigate the web to their benefit.

E-safety Support – 2017/18

At E-safety Support, members now have access to resources including:

  • 43 lesson and assembly plans
  • 19 Guidance and support resources
  • 9 policy and audit templates
  • Daily and weekly news updates
  • PLUS our series of online training courses including CPD training for staff
  • We are, of course, delighted to have so many members benefiting from these resources, some of the comments we have received can be seen on our testimonials page - if you would like to let us know your thoughts, please email feedback@e-safetysupport.com or use the comments section below.

Over the coming months, we are looking forward to bringing you additional training courses for staff, along with more e-safety resources, checklists and parental guidance. We will continue to monitor the e-safety issues to ensure we are keeping you up-to-speed with the important issues.

We have always felt it important that E-safety Support membership should be a cost-effective option for schools to allow them to have the tools needed to respond to both e-safety issues along with DfE requirements. To that end, we are announcing our first price increase since we launched with just one training course back in 2013. With the addition of eight further courses to date and a further two being release in the autumn term, we are sure that schools will still find this an affordable option for staff training and e-safety education.
